Big. Bold. Beer.
Some of the best ideas are hatched over a few (or more) beers. Friends Shawn Childers and his business partner put that saying to the test when in 2015 they opened Chesapeake’s first brewery. The brewery’s namesake comes from Shawn’s 1955 Chevy panel truck, affectionately named “Big Ugly”. The space was designed with exposed equipment, so guests know they are in a working brewery.
The menu has expanded from 4 beers on opening day to over 20 today, with a large selection of beers available to take home in 16oz cans and crowlers. As well as multiple Big Bold Barrel Aged Beer releases throughout the year. Brewers Jack Ferris and Mark Fiscus work to regularly add new items to the menu and create recipes that are crowd pleasers for our neighbors, friends and those traveling through Chesapeake. Many of these brews have won awards locally, in the state, and nationally.
The 6,000 square foot facility features a mezzanine, large outdoor patio, large front yard, and room to host celebrations for birthdays, weddings, baby showers and much more. There is a large focus on giving back, notably to the St. Baldricks Foundation, 31 Heroes, The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, Chesapeake SPCA, and numerous local events/charities.

Operating right out of the Big Ugly taproom Tuesday- Saturday. We are a small batch, locally owned coffee roasting company proudly located in Chesapeake, Virginia.
From sourcing to roasting, we value bold flavors and drinkability in every cup and work hard to bring you the highest quality every time we roast.
Our Coffee shop is located in Big Ugly Brewing. We Have partnered with them to utilize and support each other.

Saturday: 8am - 11:30

This is a friendly reminder that 𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 (𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗹𝗱) 𝗠𝗨𝗦𝗧 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗹𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀. Our neighbors have recently informed us, with video evidence, of 𝙫𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙢 (𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘣𝘳𝘰𝘬𝘦𝘯 𝘣𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘴, 𝘳𝘪𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘦𝘵𝘤.) on their property by children who are not being watched by their parents. This is becoming a more regular occurrence.
We take pride in having been able to create a space 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 to enjoy, including families with children. That being said, 𝗮𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝘆𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 to ensure that they not only remain on our property out of respect for our neighbors but above all, 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙨𝙖𝙛𝙚𝙩𝙮. 𝗜𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲, 𝘄𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝘀𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲.
